چکیده

Abstract Objectives Puberty is a period of rapid growth and development, the age onset duration puberty may serve as an indicator developmental stress during childhood. In this study, we compare pubertal timing tempo in individuals from two Roman Imperial cemetery sites, integrating biological social factors to better understand differences their possible connection Early Life Stress (ELS) peri‐pubertal stress. Materials Methods Osteological methods estimate were applied 264 Lisieux‐Michelet (4th–5th centuries CE; France) Isola Sacra (1st–4th Italy). Peptide analysis tooth enamel was used assess sex sub‐sample pre‐pubertal remains. Results Individuals experienced between 9 20 years age, with females experiencing acceleration stage earlier than males ( p < 0.05, g > 1.2). Between no significant noted for age‐at‐death acceleration, peak height velocity, deceleration (i.e., active stages puberty). Menarche occurred around 15 age. Discussion The inter‐site comparisons demonstrate similar patterns tempo. For males, aligns ancient literary descriptions key milestones. Females entered sources suggest extended period, pointing gendered exposure ELS stress, influenced by status Empire. These results how can be infer past populations.

DOHAD and early pubertal timing

Age at menarche varies widely between girls, is estimated to be highly heritable and is associated with long-term health outcomes, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Earlier pubertal maturation in boys and girls links rapid postnatal growth weight gain to later life metabolic and cardiovascular disease [1,2]. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS), which genotype hundreds of thousands of comm...
